Learn MoreHino Expands it's Range of Heavy-Duty Models
“Launched in 2021, the 700 Series range now offers a solution for almost any heavy-duty application with eleven additional models on sale from October 2025,” said Daniel Petrovski, Manager of Product Strategy for Hino Australia. “The expanded range increases our exclusively two-pedal range with a host of axle and wheelbase configurations appealing to even more customer applications and operating requirements,” he continued. The expanded range includes FH1836 4x2, FS2636 6x4 and FY3036 8x4 models which are all powered by the renowned Hino A09C engine in A09C-VN specification with its peak power of 360hp (265kW) and 1569Nm of torque delivered from 1,100 – 1,600rpm. The A09C-VN engine is mated to the new Hino M112 12-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), designed and manufactured under the Hino guiding principles of Quality, Durability and Reliability (QDR). “With its wide gear ratio and selection spread, the two-pedal 12-speed AMT will be an excellent choice for heavy rigid operations in extra urban and regional applications,” said Mr Petrovski. “It will also appeal to rigid truck operators who need to tow a trailer and to customers seeking a fuel-efficient high performance rigid truck solution for highway and hilly operations. “With the addition of the new AMT models, Hino will now offer multiple two-pedal options for our 300-plus horsepower heavy-duty customers with Allison 4440 and Allison 3200 true automatic transmissions, plus the Hino M112 and ZF Traxon AMT variations,” continued Mr Petrovski. Customer options are further multiplied with the availability of either leaf spring or airbag drive axle suspensions as well as multiple wheelbases to suit a variety of bodies and applications. The nine litre models are joined by two FS2845 models featuring the E13C 13 litre engine which produces 450hp (331kW) and 2157Nm of torque and is mated to the new M112 Hino 12-speed AMT. “The FS2845 is available with an airbag or leaf spring drive axle and will fill a gap in the market for council tippers and/or civil works customers that require regular towing of a pig or dog trailer,” said Mr Petrovski. Hino will also offer a new FS2848 12-speed AMT airbag suspension model that will suit fleet operators looking for a single trailer prime mover. Both the A09C & E13C engines meet Euro 6 exhaust emissions compliance, using a combination of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and the ever-reliable Hino Diesel Particulate Active Reduction Filter (DPR). “The current 700 Series was launched in 2021 with Euro 6 emissions compliance, well ahead of when it was even legislated in Australia,” continued Mr Petrovski. Safest Hino ever Like all 700 Series, the new models will boast the most comprehensive safety package ever offered in a Hino truck. The Hino SmartSafe package is standard and is a comprehensive safety package featuring driver assist technologies that take an active focus on protecting the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users. Hino SmartSafe includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Driver Monitor (DM), Pedestrian Detection (PD), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Reverse Camera and a suite of other standard safety features. The Hino Advantage Like all Hino products, the 700 Series is supported by Hino Advantage, a suite of business solutions that are designed to reduce costs over the life of the vehicle. This includes Hino-Connect which is standard on all 700 Series – it is an Australian-built and designed system that provides customers with real-time vehicle and driver performance data, fuel usage reports, maintenance tracking and fleet security alerts. In an Australian first, Hino-Connect allows direct communications with drivers through the Multimedia Unit in the unlikely event of a severe vehicle fault. This alert will open a case, which is managed by Hino-Connect Specialists who liaise between the customer, driver and dealer to track and oversee the progress of the repair or maintenance. “Other Hino Advantage solutions include Hino SmartSafe, Capped Price Servicing, Hino Genuine Parts, 24/7 Hino Roadside Assist, our finance options, and customer support provisions via our Customer Care Centre,” Mr Petrovski concluded. The 700 Series models come with a 3 years or 500,000km standard warranty (whichever comes first). The Hino 700 Series is available at Hino dealerships nationwide, with further information also available at www.hino.com.au
Learn MoreVICSES And Hybrid Electric On Display For Hino At AFAC
The annual Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authority Council (AFAC) conference returns to Perth from 26-29 August 2025 with a Victoria State Emergency Services (VICSES) Heavy Rescue Truck headlining the Hino Australia stand. “On display will be a Hino 500 Series Standard Cab FE1424 crew cab with a unique SES-designed rescue body that is designed to transport five VICSES members and up to 2,000kg of equipment to road crash rescue, flood and storm events,” said Daniel Petrovski, Department Manager of Product Strategy for Hino Australia. It is one of over 60 new Hino trucks that VICSES will soon add to its fleet, which is considered Australia’s largest road crash rescue network. VICSES is a volunteer-based organisation that provides emergency assistance to minimise the impact of emergencies in Victoria and is celebrating its 50th year in operation in 2025. “The 500 Series Standard Cab features a proven A05-TD five litre four-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 240hp at 2,300rpm and 833Nm of torque at 1,400rpm – the torque is delivered across a low and wide RPM range which improves drivability and provides excellent hill-climbing performance,” continued Mr Petrovski. Like all Hino trucks, the FE1424 features Hino SmartSafe, a comprehensive safety package that features driver assist technologies, which take an active focus on protecting the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users. Hino SmartSafe includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Pedestrian Detection (PD), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Reverse Camera and a suite of other standard safety features. “Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is available across the range of Hino trucks and is of particular interest to our fire and emergency services customers as tankers carrying liquids can be particularly vulnerable to rollovers,” he concluded. VSC continuously monitors the vehicles’ operation and can help prevent an incident in situations such as when a vehicle enters or exits a corner too fast. Another feature of interest to emergency services and fire-fighting customers is Hino-Connect telematics which is standard fitment on all Hino medium-duty 500 Series and heavy-duty 700 Series trucks. Hino-Connect provides customers with real-time performance data tracking, remote diagnosis of vehicle faults and a dedicated team of Hino-Connect specialists. The stand will also feature a 300 Series 616 Hybrid Electric Cab Chassis, which delivers up to 22% in fuel savings and emissions reductions with no range or recharge restrictions. “Our Hybrid Electric range meets Euro 6 emissions compliance and provides options from car-licenced 4.5 tonne GVM, up to the maximum light-rigid licenced 8 tonne GVM,” said Mr Petrovski. “Hybrid Electric is an appealing choice for customers offering a practical balance of cost, range, and payload, along with the immediate, real-world savings and reduced operating costs,” said Mr Petrovski. “Many of the visitors at AFAC also work or volunteer for other organisations that are looking for immediate fuel savings, and we know that a vehicle such as the Hybrid Electric will be of interest,” he concluded. Learn MoreMore Global Awards For Hino Australia
Hino Australia has once again cemented its reputation for outstanding customer support, receiving multiple prestigious awards from Hino Motors, Ltd., namely its 17th consecutive Parts Department of the Year Award and 14th successive Service Department of the Year Award. “This fantastic achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our dealers and head office teams to delivering the highest standards of service and support to our customers,” said Greg Bleasel, Vice President – Product Support for Hino Australia. Central to Hino Australia’s success is its state-of-the-art Parts Distribution Centre (PDC), which opened in 2021, and has helped Hino deliver record-breaking year-on-year growth in parts sales. “With almost double the capacity of our previous facility and innovative technologies in place, the PDC enables us to enhance the efficiency and reliability of Hino Genuine Parts distribution across the country,” continued Mr Bleasel. Hino Australia’s service network continues to strengthen its capabilities to ensure it remains reliable and responsive. Another key factor in Hino Australia’s success is the increased use of its Hino-Connect telematics system. “The detailed insights that Hino-Connect provides allow us to identify issues early and accurately through remote diagnostics, leading to quicker resolution times, reduced downtime and more efficient support for our customers. “Our trained technicians can provide targeted support to our customers before a vehicle even arrives at the workshop – while also being able to ensure the quick supply of necessary parts through our PDC. “Our dealerships benefit from a comprehensive technical training program, ensuring our technicians maintain, diagnose, and repair Hino vehicles quickly and expertly,” said Mr Bleasel. “Our teams will soon benefit from the upcoming launch of a new online training system, which will streamline learning. “The importance of ongoing education is further reinforced with our annual Hino National Skills Contest, which is currently in its 15th year, and allows us to reward and recognise the talent that exists within our dealership network. “We remain focused on recruiting and retaining the best technicians from Australia and internationally as a mean of addressing the industry-wide skills shortage, and currently have technician opportunities available nationwide,” he continued. Mr Bleasel concluded: “We are incredibly proud to once again be recognised on the global stage. “These awards are not just milestones — they drive us to continually enhance our services and set new standards for excellence.” Hino Australia has over 65 dealerships and specialist service centres nationwide, with more information also available at www.hino.com.au.
Learn MoreHino Doubles Down On Hybrid
Speaking at a business briefing in Darwin, Hino Australia President and CEO Richard Emery was emphatic about the Japanese manufacturer’s direction to emissions reduction through low and zero emission vehicles. “Diesel powertrains in trucks will remain the pre-eminent solution in the Australian trucking industry beyond 2030,” he said. “We believe Hybrid Electric will remain the only high volume, lower-emission truck in Australia over the next decade, and Hino is currently the only manufacturer to offer one. “Battery electric will be a key part of the future fleet in Australia in certain applications, while hydrogen will also be a factor in the next decade, probably in long haul applications to begin with,” he said. Hino is the only brand in Australia that is working on all these drivetrain solutions, with its parent company, Hino Motors, Ltd. having started trials for a heavy-duty Profia (700 Series) hydrogen truck more than two years ago. “As our competitors begin to offer diesel options that meet Euro 6 emissions compliance (like our Hybrid Electric does), the gap in monthly lease payments between hybrid and diesel will continue to decrease,” he continued. Hybrid Electric is increasing in popularity among Hino customers across a greater range of applications with 31% of last year’s Hybrid Electric deliveries received by first-time Hybrid Electric customers. “Furthermore, interest is increasing in 2025 – at the end of May, we were at 71% of the total Hybrid Electric deliveries in 2024,” said Mr Emery. Achieving significant fuel and CO2 reductions without compromising operational range or payload continues to be a key motivation for customers who can choose from a range that includes models from car-licenced 4.5 tonne GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) up to light rigid-licenced 8 tonne GVM. “Our recent fuel efficiency test around the iconic Mt Panorama circuit and surrounding streets of Bathurst replicated the conditions of a local delivery operation – almost 300 kilometres of testing showed fuel savings of up to 24% in Wide Cab variants and 22% in Standard Cab, which reinforces our customers’ expectations,” he continued. Mr Emery noted the ‘sweet spot’ that currently exists for purchasers of Hybrid Electric trucks: “The balance between cost, range, payload, maintenance and resale are all critical measures when determining which technology works for any application – increasingly, a Hybrid Electric hits that sweet spot while also reducing emissions,” he said. Planning for the medium-term future, Hino Australia is currently undertaking customer trials with light-duty Dutro (300 Series) Z-EV (Zero Emission Vehicle) to determine their feasibility in the Australian market. “This will ensure that when the time comes in Australia for full-scale electric vehicles, Hino will have a product that meets our customers’ needs and specifications,” concluded Mr Emery.
Learn MoreHino Driven By Innovation and Powered By Sustainability At The 2025 Brisbane Truck Show
With a theme of ‘driven by innovation, powered by sustainability’, the Hino Australia stand at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show showcased the Japanese manufacturer’s range of current Euro 6 solutions including the 700 Series and 300 Series Hybrid Electric. There was also a nod to the future with Hino displaying a 300 Series Z-EV electric truck, which is currently undergoing trial programs in Australia to determine its operational capacity. “Earlier in the year, Hino surpassed 150,000 deliveries in Australia, an important milestone that provides a marker to underpin our commitment to Australia and to our ongoing success while also shifting our focus forward to our next business horizon,” said Richard Emery, President & CEO of Hino Australia, speaking at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show. “It has been achieved with fit-for-purpose products centred on quality, technology and safety, supported by our partnerships with our loyal customers and dealer partners.” “None of this will change as we transition to a full range of Euro 6 compliant vehicles,” he continued. Hino Australia’s current Euro 6 range of vehicles headline its stand starting with a variety of 300 Series Hybrid Electric trucks, which deliver up to 22% in fuel savings and emissions reductions with no range or recharge restrictions. The stand will feature a 300 Series 916 Hybrid Electric Wide Cab with a Kyokuto Single Car carrier body, which acts as a recovery vehicle in the Hino-sponsored Repco Supercars Championship. “It uniquely allows the tray to slide off the back of the vehicle and can perform loading work at almost any angle down to zero degrees,” said Mr Emery. “Hybrid Electric is a compelling option for customers today based on the balance of cost, range and payload with the benefit of real-world, immediate savings on fuel and emissions,” said Mr Emery of Australia’s only Hybrid Electric truck range. With Hybrid Electric models available from car-licenced 4.5 tonne GVM, up to light rigid-licenced 8 tonne GVM, Hino also showcased a 300 Series 716 Built to Go Tipper and 300 Series 616 cab chassis. “The Tipper on display is a prototype for a range of 300 Series Built to Go Hybrid Electric factory Tipper models that we are aiming to add to our model line-up by the end of 2025,” said Mr Emery. “The Tipper is the first Hybrid Electric truck that uses the same Kyokuto Kaihatsu body that is fitted to the conventional 300 Series diesel and 500 Series factory tipper models,” he continued. Hino reiterated its commitment to sustainability with its first public display in Australia of a zero emissions vehicle, a Dutro (300 Series) Z-EV walk-through van with an ultra-low floor that features a 50kW electric motor mounted under the cab, which drives the front wheels. Mr Emery reinforced that it was not a launch nor model introduction. “In the coming year, the Z-EV will undergo real-world trials to interrogate its cost, range and payload and ensure it is a viable option for our Australian customers, regardless of Government incentives,” he concluded. Hino Australia’s heavy-duty range was represented by a 700 Series SH1845 4x2 prime mover that transports the Hino Sports Deck display trailer to selected rounds of the Repco Supercars Championship. Another key model displayed in the 700 Series range was a FY3036 8x4 tilt tray with crane and ROPS (Roll Over Protection System), which is on loan from Hino customer CST Hire, one of Australia’s leading truck rental companies and provides a leading range of project-specific trucks specifically designed to handle the tough Australian construction and mining environments. The Brisbane Truck Show will run from Thursday 15th May to Sunday 18th May 2025 at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre. For more information, go to www.hino.com.au

Consisting of 12 gruelling stages covering over 7800 kilometres, the 47th Dakar Rally took place in Saudi Arabia from 3rd to 17th January, 2025. For Service Technicians, the focus was on testing their diagnostic and technical skills via a range of assessments on 300 Series Hybrid Electric, 500 and 700 Series models. For the first time, they were also assessed on their problem solving and communication skills when faced with a remote diagnostic problem. “Held for the thirteenth year, the Hino National Skills Contest reinforces the importance of ongoing training and development for our dealership staff, and I congratulate all of today’s finalists including the winners,” said Richard Emery, President and CEO of Hino Australia. “As one of the longest-running industry events of its kind, the Skills Contest continues to grow in prestige and importance and is a fantastic celebration of our people and their skills. “It directly benefits our customers as our staff continue to increase their high levels of customer service and product knowledge, and it also aids us to retain and recruit the best sales, service and parts staff in the Australian trucking industry,” said Mr Emery. Learn MoreHino AFAC Stand Line-Up Confirmed
Hino Australia has announced its display vehicles for the upcoming Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authority Council (AFAC) conference running from 3-6 September 2024 at Sydney’s International Convention & Exhibition Centre. “The highlight of our stand will be a 500 Series Wide Cab FG 1628 crew cab fitted with a bespoke road crash rescue body designed and built by renowned body builders Bell Fire & Rescue,” said Daniel Petrovski, Manager – Product Strategy for Hino Australia. “Safety and ease of use for firefighters and mechanics were key in designing the body – additionally, all equipment is powered by either battery or the truck’s systems with an onboard inverter providing power for smaller items such as lighting,” said Mr Petrovski. With 280Hp (206kW) of power and 883Nm of torque, the J08E engine in the FG 1628 combines with an Allison six speed automatic transmission. Also featured on the stand is a 700 Series FS 2632 6x4 cab chassis, which supersedes the outgoing 500 Series Wide Cab FM 2632 6x4 model. “The FM2632 has been a perennial favourite with our fire-fighting and emergency services customers for many years and is suitable for a myriad of applications. “The 700 Series FS2632 is the latest generation of Hino chassis and offers Euro 6 emissions compliance, and even higher levels of standard safety with the Hino SmartSafe safety package,” he continued. It provides a more comfortable cabin environment and easier ingress and egress courtesy of a lower-set cabin while delivering the same levels of power (320Hp/235kW) and torque (1275Nm) as its predecessor courtesy of the revered A09C engine. Like all Hino 700 Series, the FS2632 features Hino SmartSafe, a comprehensive safety package that features driver assist technologies, which take an active focus on protecting the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users. Learn MoreHino Hybrid Electric Recovery Trucks For Supercars
As part of its partnership with the Repco Supercars Championship, Hino Australia will debut a new 300 Series Hybrid Electric Tilt Tray Recovery Vehicle at this month’s Sydney SuperNight event from 19-21 July. Hino customers have been lowering their emissions with Hybrid Electric trucks for over 15 years. Compared to an equivalent diesel truck, a 300 Series Hybrid Electric delivers up to 20% in fuel savings and emissions reduction. The offering also eliminates any concerns regarding charging facilities and range limitations, with models available from car-licenced 4.5 tonne GVM, up to medium rigid-licenced 8.5 tonne GVM. The Hybrid Electric Recovery Vehicle will be fitted with a unique Kyokuto Single Car carrier body with a tilt tray slide that allows the tray to slide off the back of the vehicle and for loading work to be performed at almost any angle down to zero degrees. “The Kyokuto body is unique and relatively new to Australia – it has been selected as it meets the exacting operational requirements of Supercar races and will ensure the safe and prompt removal of crashed Supercars and other race cars,” said Richard Emery, President & CEO of Hino Australia. “One of the major benefits of the tilt slide is that, once the tray is on the ground, loading can be done at a near zero degree angle and from the ground eliminating the risk of falling from heights,” he continued. The quick removal of crashed cars will be made possible courtesy of the one-handed, single button remote operation. “As part of our long-term partnership with Supercars, we have provided a 500 Series Standard Cab recovery vehicle for the last five years - the 300 Series Hybrid Electric is a natural progression that ties in with Supercars sustainability strategy,” continued Mr Emery. Supercars Chief Operating Officer Tim Watsford said: "We're thrilled to welcome Hino's innovative Hybrid Electric Tilt Tray into our Supercars recovery fleet. “This marks a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and efficiency. "This partnership underscores our dedication to embracing advancements that benefit both our sport and the environment. "This addition to our fleet confirms a significant milestone for Supercars and we look forward to utilising their advanced features to ensure seamless recovery operations at our events," said Mr Watsford. The Hybrid Electric and 500 Series Standard Cab Recovery Vehicles will be in action at the Sydney, Bathurst, Gold Coast and Adelaide rounds of the 2024 Supercars Championship.

The location was chosen for its close proximity to the airport and major arterials, allowing customers convenient access to the dealership for their servicing needs. “The improved efficiencies and productivity of the service department including onsite brake testing, wheel alignment and weighbridge will benefit our customers with quicker service times including same day service,” said Mr Reynolds. “Customers who choose to wait can enjoy our new lounge facilities including desks, computers and a full kitchen. “Additionally, we now have two breakdown vehicles that support our customers 24/7 with break-downs, and customers can safely drop off and pick up vehicles on a 24/7 basis at their convenience,” he concluded. City Hino’s new $1mill Hino Hub in Fairfield East is in addition to their $5mil investment to the Arndell Park dealership undertaken in late 2023. “As our truck parc continues to increase, it is essential that we provide our customers with increased options and accessibility for their parts and servicing requirements,” said Daniel Glynn, General Manager of City Hino. “Our 5000m2 Fairfield East Hino Hub features a workshop purpose-built for trucking maintenance with 10 service bays and three new hoists for fast servicing, plus over 1,100 locations for parts storage. We are an Authorised Inspection Centre, offering our customers convenience and minimising their downtime,” he continued. “It is conveniently located close to major arterials and Hino’s Parts Distribution Centre. “The Arndell Park upgrades in 2023 included a newly constructed parts warehouse increasing parts storage by 300% with specialised racking designed for the trucking industry including storage for full cabs – we also added an additional four work bays and new 14 and 35 tonne hoists,” said Mr Glynn. Learn MoreHino Celebrates Its Elite Dealers
Hino Australia has crowned its top dealers for 2023 at its annual Dealer of the Year Awards. Once again, CMI Hino Adelaide won the Metropolitan Dealer of the Year, while Coffs Harbour’s Southside Truck Centre was crowned the Regional Dealer of the Year. “The annual Dealer of the Year awards are an important opportunity for us to reflect and collectively celebrate the success of 2023, while also congratulating our pre-eminent dealerships on their success,” said Richard Emery, President and CEO of Hino Australia. “Southside Truck Centre only commenced as a Hino dealer in mid-2021, and has hit the ground running, demonstrating commitment to the Hino brand with strong investment in its facilities. “It is a particularly poignant award for the Southside team – its Lismore dealership was essentially destroyed in the floods of 2022, and Coffs Harbour was vital in keeping the business going, despite being in its infancy,” continued Mr Emery. “This is the third successive Dealer of the Year title for CMI Hino Adelaide, which is a fantastic achievement for our longest serving Hino dealer,” he continued. Nathan Chatfield, General Manager of CMI Hino Adelaide accepted the award on behalf of his team: “I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this team – every single person in our dealership consistently works hard across all areas of the business and stands by the CMI Hino values. “This award is simply a tribute to that. “To receive this award in our 90th year of operation is an honour – we have been a part of Hino for almost 55 years and Hino is a part of our DNA,” he concluded. The accolades didn’t stop there for CMI Hino Adelaide as it also won the metropolitan awards for Customer Experience, Sales Excellence and Service Excellence, the latter for the second year in a row. Collecting the Regional Dealer of the Year award, Southside Truck Centre Dealer Principal Steve Robinson said: “This is amazing! We are relatively new compared to other Hino dealerships. “This win is particularly emotional as it has been almost two years to the day since our Lismore branch was wiped out in the floods - we lost everything including 21 Hino trucks and every single spare part and piece of furniture. “While the Lismore dealership was starting from scratch, the new, young team in Coffs Harbour just went from strength to strength, and this award is a tribute to their determination, skill and passion,” said Mr Robinson. The Southside Truck Centre also added the Parts Excellence Award (Regional) to its trophy cabinet. For the third consecutive year, CMI Hino Adelaide, Sci-Fleet Hino Brisbane and Sci-Fleet Hino Gold Coast were recipients of the prestigious President’s Award and were joined by Sydney’s City Hino, Coff’s Harbour’s Southside Truck Centre and Sunshine Coast’s Wideland Hino. City Hino also claimed the Hino Financial Services Dealer of the Year, presented by Toyota Financial Services. Adtrans Hino’s Stewart Scoon was awarded the Salesperson of the Year while the Customer Experience (Regional) award was won by Turnbull Hino. The remaining major regional awards were claimed by Wagga Trucks Hino, which took out the Sales Excellence Award (Regional) and the Service Excellence Award (Regional). For the second consecutive year, Sci-Fleet Hino Brisbane won the Parts Excellence Award for metropolitan dealers. The 2023 Hino Dealer of the Year awards were held in a bespoke marquee on the Bennelong Lawn at the Royal Botanical Gardens on Saturday 24th February and were attended by Hino Motors, Ltd. Learn MoreSensational sixth for Hino in 2024 Dakar Rally.
Hino has produced yet another excellent result in the 2024 Dakar Rally, finishing sixth in its bonneted Hino 600 Series truck. The 46th edition of the Dakar Rally took place from 5th – 19th January 2024 on a challenging course split into 12 stages raced over more than 8,000 kilometres. New for 2024 was a 48 hour chrono – or marathon - stage held over two days in which the competitors raced over 750 kilometres before sleeping overnight on sand in pop-up tents, followed by another challenging 549 kilometres on the following day. It was the 33rd successive Dakar Rally finish for Hino since 1991 when it became the first Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer to enter the rally. Due to a rule change from the rally organisers regarding hybrid trucks, Hino Team Sugawara removed the hybrid system that it has been competing with for the past two years. This change and the associated reduction in weight increased the Hino 600 Series’ ability to compete with its larger rivals, pushing it further up the standings. Teruhito Sugawara, driver and Team Director of Hino Team Sugawara was joined onboard by co-drivers Hirokazu Somemiya and Yuji Mochizuki, with support members of Hino Team Sugawara providing assistance during the rally. Hino Australia Vice President of Brand & Franchise Development Richard Emery praised the team’s excellent results: “At Hino Australia, we have been proud sponsors of Team Sugawara for over a decade, and we are thrilled to see them finish sixth,” said Mr Emery. “In yet another challenging Dakar Rally, the bonneted Hino 600 Series truck has demonstrated the quality, durability and reliability that Hino is notorious for,” he concluded. The Hino Dakar Rally 600 Series features full-time 4WD and is powered by a 9 litre direct injection, turbocharged and intercooled A09C engine with turbo intercooler. In Australia, a production version of the A09C engine is available in the Hino 700 Series.

Learn MoreHino Continues to Invest in its Future
Hino Australia has reflected on another strong and consistent year while setting out its priorities for the future as it moves into 2024. With a month remaining in 2023, Hino forecasts it will finish 2023 at a similar volume to 2022. Speaking at a recent business briefing, Hino Australia’s Vice President of Brand and Franchise Development Richard Emery said: “While our sales position has been frustrated over the last two years through supply and logistics constraints, our order intake has stayed strong and our customers have remained consistent in their support of us. “It would be fair to say that supply restrictions around our light-duty 300 Series and medium-duty 500 Series trucks have been challenging for our dealers and customers, and we are grateful for their patience,” he said. The real success story of 2023 has been the light-duty 300 Series Hybrid Electric which has seen a rise in orders of over 400% year-on-year courtesy of customers’ increased focus on reducing emissions. “This year will be a record year for 300 Series Hybrid Electric – we have already delivered over 200 units and we have another 100 pending delivery,” he continued. Hino Australia’s strong results were not limited to truck sales as the after-sales side of the business continues to see significant growth. “In 2023, we will again achieve record part sales, which has been made possible by the ongoing efforts of our dealer network and our state-of-the-art Parts Distribution Centre which we opened during COVID lockdowns in 2021,” said Mr Emery. “Our service workshops and parts business are operating at record levels this year, and this has seen our dealer partners investing in greater capacity and resources to fulfill this growth, which is expected to continue into 2024,” he said. This is reflected by Hino Australia winning its 15th successive Parts Department of the Year Award and a 12th consecutive Service Department of the Year Award earlier in 2023. “From a sales and marketing perspective, 2024 will see a further concentration on our Hybrid Electric products while we expect our heavy-duty 700 Series to experience further sales growth. “Our current focus is to invest in and entrench a sustainable and robust business model that will perform regardless of any potential challenges,” continued Mr Emery. “Together with our automotive business partners, we have invested over $45 million in the infrastructure and services to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations and requirements both now and in the future,” he concluded.
